All over the web, millions of online courses and tutorials are available on various platforms. However, across Africa many young learners start and never finish, or they fail to put into practice the theoretical knowledge they gain. Meanwhile, only about 5% of data/AI practitioners on the continent have proper access to compute power (GPUs or cloud) needed to train or experiment.

As we pursue the future of work, and as AI and data become central to how companies, governments, and societies function, it is important that our learning systems don’t just give access but ensure that learning is completed, applicable, and equitable. We need learners who finish, learners who build, and learners who demonstrate excellence so they can participate in shaping Africa’s Data & AI future.
